High Power Absorber : for applications in which the end user is using High Power RF, Emerson & Cuming MP has developed a range of pyramidal absorbers which can withstand the illumination with a High Power source.
Two types are available :
The ECCOSORB HFX-18-HC absorbers are hollow, pyramidal-shaped, high-power absorbers. These absorbers are made from carbon-coated honeycomb grids and have, accordingly, a low weight. The total height is approx. 45 cm and the base dimensions of these absorbers are ‘standard’ 61 cm x 61 cm
The "Power Handling Capability" of the ECCOSORB HFX-18-HC high-power absorbers is specified to be 1.5 W/cm² / 15 kW/m² (which is approximately 10 times higher compared to our standard pyramidal foam absorbers ECCOSORB VHP-18-NRL). This is the guaranteed value without forced air cooling / forced air circulation. However, in case some forced cooling is applied, the power-handling capability of our high-power absorbers can be improved till 3.0 W/cm² / 30 kW/m².
The ECCOSORB SPY is made of durable open cell foam. The open cell structure allows air circulation which enhances the Power Handling of the absorber. The "Power Handling Capability" of the ECCOSORB SPY high-power absorbers is specified to be 0.3 W/cm² / 3 kW/m² (which is approximately 2 times higher compared to our standard pyramidal foam absorbers ECCOSORB VHP)
