ECCOSORB^® VF-30 is a conductive vinyl film that can be used to line the interior of a cavity to lower the Q or to alter the flow of high frequency currents.  Wedges or tapers can be made and applied to the interior of waveguides as terminations. It can be utilized in resistors or as a An electrical device which has a user-adjustable resistance.potentiometer. Geometric shaping of the sheet can produce a desired resistive gradient.  ECCOSORB^® VF-30 can be softened at higher temperatures and be bonded to itself by heat sealing.

The most easy to understand salisbury screen design consists of a ground plane which is the metallic surface that needs to be concealled, a lossless dielectric of a given thickness (a quarter of the wavelength that will be absorbed) and a thin lossy screen.

The film is spaced away from a metal surface by about ¼ wavelength.  The resultant absorber is narrow-band.  Wide band free space absorbers have been made from ECCOSORB^® VF-30 by draping it over wooden frames to form a hollow cone or pyramid with the tip toward the source of radiation.  Pressing cones or pyramids into the sheet has also been successful.
